Our Plastic Problem
Introduction to our plastic problem
Singaporeans generated lots of waste and 930 tons of them were plastic in 2019. At this rate, soon enough Singapore’s landfill will be filled. Singapore’s fight against climate change is urgent as the consequence of climate change is becoming more dire. When less plastic waste is generated, less incineration has to be done. Thus, reducing Singapore’s carbon emission and slows down global warming

Are you ‘guilty’ of using single-use plastic takeaway boxes and plastic bags often but they are disposed of shortly after? That is indeed very common. Single use plastic waste is a concern for our future generations- maybe your child or even your older self- are the ones who are going to experience the consequences of our actions today. High incineration rates of the single use plastic, increases carbon emission and accelerates climate change.
The rising global temperature of 1.14 degrees Celsius since the 19th century and the extreme environmental events like Forest fires, droughts, and floods that occur more frequently due to the worsening climate change, are our problems. Is there something we can do? Yes definitely, we can do so by reducing both our plastic consumption and also our plastic waste.
